Hi,
Recently I [posted](https://www.reddit.com/r/emacs/comments/zvqhub/get_face_variable_of_lsp_breadcrumbs/) how could I figure out the face variable for LSP breadcrumbs. I solved it.
I hope the following is helpful.
**TL;DR**
* Even non-elisp hackers can understand elisp. Don't be intimidated.
* Thank you /u/CorysInTheHouse69 for the nudge.
**Details**
/u/CorysInTheHouse69, politely, repeatedly mentioned I should consult the underlying code. They were right, that's the right approach. Even for a non-elisp hacker, one can see patterns!
I found the pattern in the doom theme (`doom-themes-base.el`) base code and saw the line `(header-line :inherit 'mode-line)` That is, the header line is matching my mode line. That's not what I wanted! Boom!
Walking up the code, I see the following comment:
;;; Code:
;; These are used as a basis for every Doom theme defined with `def-doom-theme',
;; as a set of reasonble defaults. They are intended to be overidden where it
;; makes sense to.
operative word **overridden**!
In my `init.el` I override `(header-line` and now, I have what I want. \\o/
Here's an example of my unit test:
(custom-set-faces
;; custom-set-faces was added by Custom.
;; If you edit it by hand, you could mess it up, so be careful.
;; Your init file should contain only one such instance.
;; If there is more than one, they won't work right.
...
'(header-line ((t (:background "blue" :foreground "black"))))
...)
Go forth and hack!
