show list of recent files on startup

I have `(recentf-mode 1)` in my init file and I can do `M-x recentf-open-files` to see the recent file list. but I'd like to see this list instead of the default buffer on startup note: I don't wanna install any package if that's possible

Does adding 'recentf-open-files' to the 'after-init-hook' do what you want?

yes that did it. thanks I added `(add-hook 'after-init-hook 'recentf-open-files)` and it created the buffer but I also had to `(inhibit-startup-screen t)` because it was still showing the default buffer and the recent files buffer was in the background

actually I just did `(initial-buffer-choice 'recentf-open-files)` so there's no need for `(inhibit-startup-screen t)`
