Issues with emacs-28 and emacs-29 on Fedora 37

I just upgraded from Fedora 36 to Fedora 37, and when I tried executing emacsclient, it would immediately crash. emacs-nox worked fine however. I removed the binary and tried re-installing emacs from the Fedora package repository, but the same thing would happen. I then tried recompiling emacs-28, and I get this cryptic message when running `../configure`: ``` config.status: error: cannot find input file: `test/manual/noverlay/Makefile.in ``` Google-fu gives exactly one hit when searching for `test/manual/noverlay/Makefile.in` and it's for someone having trouble compiling emacs on Apple M1; in my case I'm using boring intel x86 (thinkpad x480). I'm not really sure where to begin to look to debug exactly what's going on. For what it's worth, when trying to compile emacs-29, I can get past the configuration, but when I actually try compiling it, it's tells me I'm missing a ton of object files, namely, the following: ``` scroll.o category.o chartab.o com.o cmds.o casetab.o region-cache.o doprnt.o lcms.o systhread.o terminfo.o lastfile.o ``` Has anyone had any issues with emacs on Fedora 37? This only seems to be the case on my thinkpad; on my desktop it's running fine.

It looks like I just needed to run `git clean -f -d -x`. Doh!

In the case of emacs-29, sounds like you have a corrupted build: do `make clean` and try again.
