Can use-package in emacs core integrate with package-vc to replace straight.

I was a straight.el user and when use-package was added to the core the keyword for straight was removed from the use-package in emacs core. I know I could use use-package from github but I was wondering if it would be possible to replace the whole functionality with package-vc. Even if there is no key word for it can package-vc manage dependencies(i.e. in fully vc form without package.el installs)

straight.el support was never built in to use-package. Use-package has what is effectively a plugin system for keywords; any other package [can add its own keywords by defining specific handlers](https://github.com/jwiegley/use-package#keyword-extensions) for them. So the effects of `straight-use-package` and `:straight` come from straight.el itself, and I would imagine they still work.

Thanks it must have been some other thing that was causing the error right around the time use-package merged. Freaky coincidence perhaps. Edit: I still get the errors about straight though and nothing has changed about my setup except for not installing use-package via straight. `Error (use-package): Failed to parse package delight:use-package unrecognized keyword: :straight`

Check this article: https://tony-zorman.com/posts/2022-11-30-package-vc-install.html

Are you sure straight is still being loaded before trying to evaluate a `use-package` call?

Looks good can it download dependencies?

I think it does but I am not sure, because I only tested it with one package ([helm](https://melpa.org/#/helm))

I use `quelpa-use-package`, so while most packages are installed using `:ensure` with package.el, the rest are installed from source using `:quelpa`
