I took the Emacs User Survey 2022 sometime back. This year is coming to an end. I was hoping to see the results. Is it going to be published soon?

There’s a video covering the results: https://emacsconf.org/2022/talks/survey/ (also available on YouTube: https://youtu.be/7jetbJ_wiSg)

The results have been there all the time. https://emacssurvey.org/results/3425413930
TEC just needs to get free time to finish the analysis. As mentioned in another comment, some initial analysis has been done in the Emacsconf talk.

I noticed that most reported that keybindings were the main difficulty they have when they started. While that's true for me, I think an equally important limitation is feature discoverability. I discovered a large chunk of my most frequently used features by chance. In those cases where you can actually identify what you need, melpa doesn't help with discovery at all. I always end up asking for personal recommendations cause I rarely know the keywords I need to look up. It'd be great to have groups or tags in melpa.
It's nice to see that there's a healthy amount of newcomers to emacs, those who jumped in the last few years like me make a sizeable portion of the user base.
Demographics are always interesting. 30-50yo american male leading the user base by far even though open source is meant to be free for everyone.

If you see the presentation, US is leading simply by population numbers. Once you normalize by population Northern Europe is in the lead.

Oh, I get that, but that's the name of the game. I do appreciate the significant portion of users from other places and their contribution.

7000 users surveyed. Out of how many Emacs users?
No way to know, but it might be interesting to guess an order of magnitude.

We also need to take into account that many users, say in China or Japan, have their own community and social forums and are simply unaware of the survey.

It's simply because there are more English speaking software engineers in US.
Check popular Emacs packages at github. You will find most authors are not from US.

At least for China, it has been announced. See "How did you find out about this survey?"

There is really no way to know. Not without adding some kind of tracking to Emacs, which will never happen.
