I wrote a new minor mode called [binky-mode](https://github.com/liuyinz/binky-mode) for jumping between positions in buffers and files with the same mechanism of `register-to-point`. Features included:
1. Better ui and customization, more information than register method.
2. Vim-like mark and jump style.
3. Integration with buffers recently used.
4. Margin indicator support
The emacs version which this package supports is >= 26.3. And only rely on cl-lib. The package is avilable in [Melpa](http://melpa.org/#/binky-mode) right now, you could install it from github or melpa.
Since I use it for a quite few time and satisfied with it now. I hope if anybody would find it useful and give some advices.
