Emacs' [Input Methods](https://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/manual/html_node/emacs/International.html) are great, I love them.
ordzo · 2022-12-14 15:52

Back then it was called 'E-DITTU MAKRUS-SU'; came on 360 clay tablets.
timmymayes · 2022-12-14 16:57
So it's always been bloated?
I bet VIM only took 60

Unless I am mistaken and forgot everything from my Sanskrit lessons, cuneiform has nothing to do with Sanskrit. But considering my Sanskrit classes were far too few and I don't practise the language at all, I might be wrong.
yantar92 · 2022-12-14 17:34
and then they started building Babel support... and the VIMers came after them

That's not how the Enuma-Elisp recounts the events; but multiple sources exist, of course.
We do know, however, that vi-peoples arrived considerably later, towards the end of the bronze age.

These times are also known as the Dark age [1]. And not much known about what happened indeed.
Luckly, the fork from earlier versions existed. Although the newest releases where lost in the abyss, and where later referred as the "ideal" [2].

Bingo!
AlanYx · 2022-12-14 19:31
The largest ongoing academic project to catalogue Sanskrit works, ORACC, actually uses Emacs.
DrPiwi · 2022-12-14 20:12
>You guys don't code in Sanskrit??
Why would we use such modernities? when Cuneiform does just nicely. Next you'd be talking of writing on paper???
robotreader · 2022-12-14 20:14
I tried this and the program I was running core dumped lmao
pwillia7 · 2022-12-14 21:37
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quipu I prefer to write test suites in tied knots, actually
agumonkey · 2022-12-14 22:31
not that bloated, the story said it was brought by one tallman
phalp · 2022-12-15 00:51
Those would be the "C Peoples" sometimes blamed for the bronze age collapse?
