This would be more interesting with an explanation and some context.

Pardon me. Used emacs mini frame setting it to create a new frame. Thus getting my WMs decorations (rounded corners, animations, shadows, borders). Then made my WM to float the mini buffer window in the center. That gives the possibility for UI thingies that should be slower or harder to implement on emacs. Also with emacs 29 you can add true transparency to frames for more cool visual effects

Transparency is definitely a game changer for emacs. Heck! For the whole editor world I should say. /jk Now the mini frame settings sounds interesting. Do you have a package for it or a GitHub link? Does it work with vertico for example?
SteamingBeer · 2022-12-04 18:58
Install `mini-frame` package from melpa Enable it in your config and also apply these settings ```elisp (setq mini-frame-detach-on-hide nil) (setq mini-frame-standalone 't) (setq mini-frame-resize-min-height 10) (setq mini-frame-ignore-commands (append mini-frame-ignore-commands '(evil-window-split evil-window-vsplit evil-ex))) ``` For transparency there is this post [here](https://kristofferbalintona.me/posts/202206071000/)

Isnt this only on x11? I thought this didnt work on wayland.
SteamingBeer · 2022-12-04 19:33
Don't know. I have been using it with hyprland without issues.
cat-head · 2022-12-05 00:38
It looks nice, but feels slower than the default minibuffer.

How does this differ from posframe?
SteamingBeer · 2022-12-05 06:04
It's an entirely new window
SteamingBeer · 2022-12-05 06:05
For me it's instant tbh, but I have a pretty beefy machine
GahonMelon · 2022-12-06 13:23
How to make it centered?
SteamingBeer · 2022-12-06 13:26
Rule in my compositor that regex matches the window name. Although it matches the center of the screen not the original emacs frame, but for my eyes that's usually comfier.
GahonMelon · 2022-12-06 14:14
I didn't understand.

Or it could just be me
