Solution to evaluating JS in buffer

avindroth · 2022-12-01 06:15
I have been looking at various options for JS dev workflow similar to being in Lisp images and developing incrementally. I have looked at [swank-js](https://github.com/swank-js/swank-js), [indium](https://github.com/NicolasPetton/Indium), and [skerrick](https://github.com/anonimitoraf/skerrick), but none works out of the box (1\~2 hours of investment didn't result in anything). Are there people getting this workflow working in Emacs? Looking for something like SLIME. EDIT: After hours of toil, I have gotten Indium to work.

I use Indium for this. It wasn’t hard to get working for me, but you might have had project-specific challenges that I didn’t. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I also found Indium quite good but you need some setup indeed. A lightweight solution is [https://github.com/abicky/nodejs-repl.el](https://github.com/abicky/nodejs-repl.el) but I found it doesn't work with dependencies (your package.json), which didn't make it usable for me.
