Would changing terminal emulator help on MacOS for use of remote terminal emacs over ssh?

I have a remote system, I log on to over ssh, where I use Emacs with vanilla key bindings. (So not edit files with tramp, but actually using the local Emacs application, like for reading local mail and other local stuff). On Linux and FreeBSD this works OK, but on MacOS this is terrible, the MacOS terminal emulator creates a lot of havoc. Setting up a emacsclient / emacs-server combi over tcp seems rather complicated, so I haven't tried that. The remote system is a headless system, without X. Would installing a different terminal emulator (f.e., with brew) help? If so, any recommendations on what terminal emulator to choose? UPDATE: Thanks to the reply's from [https://www.reddit.com/user/rpluim/](https://www.reddit.com/user/rpluim/) and [https://www.reddit.com/user/Greenskid/](https://www.reddit.com/user/Greenskid/), I installed iterm2. In the configuration of the profile, set the left alt-key to "Esc+". After this, using Emacs over ssh works great :)

I use iterm2, which works well for me. (emacsclient/emacs-server over tcp wouldn't work from macOS to FreeBSD in any case)

I use iterm3 because it is the one terminal that is allowed at my place of work, and it's probably the most used on macOS, and is well maintained. I also use Tmux on the remote machine. With 24bit color setup, and using Nerd fonts, the experience is pretty good. At home I use Alacrity terminal, and use it from all platforms (win/linux/Mac). Of course for local shells I use GUI Emacs (mainly Vterm).
