Emacs with graphics missing, emacs not on menu

Fresh install of Debian 11 on older iMac. All seems well. Emacs opens fine in a terminal, but is not listed in the applications menu and I don’t get the usual graphics like a tool bar. Everything else seems fine. I’m guessing I didn’t get a specific emacs package installed. Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

Make sure it's not `emacs-nox`, and that that version isn't installed. You want `emacs-gtk`.
