A few snippets in [post](https://xenodium.com/hey-emacs-where-did-i-take-that-photo/) for: * Displaying all Exif metadata. * Reverse geocoding and displaying address in minibuffer. * Dropping pin in map.

Geotagging photos always gives me the heebie jeebies though. Very easy way to dox yourself accidentally (take photo near house -> forget geotagging is on -> post photo -> house location now known). Easier to just name the photo with the general location.

Photo was from a trip to Japan :) oh so wonderful. I love that building and the tempura inside!

Easier? Lol. Right. Because you'll remember 5 years later when creating memory albums.

Hey what terminal is that? Looks awesome!
xenodium · 2022-11-03 13:03
Ah, no terminal in screen grab. All GUI Emacs with some theme/ui tweaks https://github.com/xenodium/dotsies/blob/main/emacs/features/fe-ui.el

I don't know much about exif or how it stores geo data, but Emacs 27 included an exif.el. Maybe it's usable here or if not, I'm sure they'd be interesting in patches or suggestions to improve it to do so.

Oh neat. I’ll check this out. Update: On the surface, seems to support JPEG only. Neither png nor HEIC worked for me.
