Does anyone know any tutorial or video explaining how to set up a proper python ide in emacs? Any init files/tips/tricks would be greatly appreciated too. Thanks in advance!

My suggestion is not to use Emacs for Python. The best simple experience is with Idle.

python -m pudb [[whatever.py]] is my goto. I think pudb is ... godzilla :) Only thing better I know is CIDER, but that's not for Python.

>pudb
damn that looks cool. does it integrate with emacs or is it a standalone tool?
rebcabin-r · 2022-10-30 05:00
standalone in the terminal. best debugger in the industry, imo. all the functionality of PyCharm but no mouse EVER.

Yeah, I use pudb extensively. It's my go-to debugger for python code.
Tip: If you add `export PYTHONBREAKPOINT="pudb.set_trace"` to your `.bashrc` file (or the configuration file for whatever shell you use), then if you add `breakpoint()` to your Python code it will stop in pudb.
