Thanks for the write-up, I'll steal a couple of those. Small typo in "REAMDE"

Why, a typo in the second sentence, how embarrassing! I've fixed it now, thank you!

"REAMDE" is a good description of me attempting to pronounce German words.

Hah! This is why I like dating commits that change the behaviour of the config in a significant way; always good for a laugh a few months down the road. To answer your question: none at all! I neither feel slower while editing (in fact, some operations feel much faster!), nor have I noticed any kind of Emacs pinky-like problems. Having a history of RSI in my right hand for unrelated reasons, ergonomics is something that I keep a close eye on—using "proper" keyboard layouts, remapping control/super/whatnot to be in a convenient place on the keyboard _on both sides_, and so on. I might add that I only really used Vim bindings for editing before; I was never a big fan of evil collection and similar projects. However, this setup has prompted me to undergo some kind of mental change—"feel" more like an Emacs user rather than a Vim expat—and dive into Emacs much deeper than I originally intended to. Definitely a big win in my book :)

To dated comments: I am in the complete opposite camp. When I see colleagues do dated comments with their name tags, I always cringe a little bit (inside, I don't express this to them). Some don't know "git" well. And showing them "git blame" for the umpteenth time or "git log -p path-to-file". Or the equivalent of the graphical frontends. Also pointing them to the nice learning web sites for it somehow never changes it. They more or less arranged themselves with it, but in reality fight it. For me, dated comments are mostly unneeded, the why something changed 8s in git history. Look at how the Linux kernel project is using git history to get an idea, (the kernel is where I started to learn git). Often dazed comments are inconsistent, because some changes aren't documented there. But not the git history. Comments with name tags are nowadays superfluous. Who commit something, even on behalf of someone else, is also in git history. "git blame" is phantastic, e.g. it works even in the middle of a "git bisect" session. You always find out who did a change, even when a change in source was done without a name tag comment. Because source comments aren't usually consistent. But git history is.

I didn't mean to imply that I find dated comments a good idea for an actual software project, I merely said that I enjoy writing them _for my own configuration_. Obviously when working with other people using `git blame` and friends is superior (and doesn't clutter the file as much)
