Catppuccin coming soon

Is it just me, or do all of these themes look the same? Doom, nord, Dracula, Tokyo night, etc. Even gruvbox and solarized are barely distinguishable. What is the actual reason to use any one over any other? (go ahead and downvote, you know you want to)

Its mainly just personal preference. However boot times can be different depending per theme but this is negligible. When ricing having a singular theme can help with consistency.

It’s you? The only common point I see between Gruvbox and Solarized is the tan background. And if you really think that Dracula and Nord look the same, I don’t know what to tell you…

Head's up, sometimes acknowdgin that you're going to get down voted doesn't validate your point. It just looks like you knew what you were saying was wrong, and posted it anyway

There already is a catppuccin theme... https://github.com/catppuccin/emacs

the catppuccin theme was missing some of the newer variants, but looks like there is a pr to add them now. https://github.com/catppuccin/emacs/pull/12

they look different and some people prefer one over another? whats the "actual reason" to customize anything beyond personal preference?

That has been my observation as well. They are all practically the same low contrast themes.

I have all four variants in my Repo: [https://github.com/konrad1977/emacs/tree/main/themes](https://github.com/konrad1977/emacs/tree/main/themes) Tree-sitter-support, etc. Feel free to contact me so maybe we can put them on Melpa. Enjoy!

Its not updated to v2.0 however

Oh Nice, You may want to reach out to the repo owner for catppuccin Emacs port. Request if you can merge. Or I could add it to my fork and add you as a co-author. 😅

Sadly not finished

As a monkey myself, I can tell you that monkeys like colors. A lot!

I don't think they want autothemer as requirements.

No Its fine, I will write docs. Their just happy that its done. 👍

Hello u/konrad1977! u/MicrowavingMetal, one of our fellow devs at r/catppuccin is currently working on the theme too but seems like you have all the themes ready. If I may suggest, would it be okay for you to PR to u/MicrowavingMetal's repo or probably a PR at catppuccin/emacs itself? We could move forward from there and get emacs updated to 0.2 quickly with your and u/MicrowavingMetal's help! TIA :)

Hey, OP. Slight off-topic? What app is that screenshot from? I'm interested in tracking my work and this seems interesting :)

looks like discord, and the screenshot is of the rich-presence screen (apps can tell discord when/what they're doing and discord will display a little icon). Its mainly for games though you can use it for whatever
