Shout out to this little package

Package: [https://github.com/davidmiller/dizzee](https://github.com/davidmiller/dizzee) (Subprocess management for Emacs)

I usually use Projectiles Compilation commands to run a single server (for work, I usually just need to kick off one command that takes care of loading everything) but for a new project, this isn't feasible anymore and I need to kick of several processes to do anything useful. This little package makes it easy to create them and even group them together for easier management. See the README for yourself :)

Seem suitable to me, im working on microservices a lot and have to start/stop services very often. Thanks for sharing!

Nice. Are you awere of [`detached`](https://sr.ht/~niklaseklund/detached.el/)? It seems related to `dizzee`.
I use `detached` with `org mode` to run processes in remote machines.
I organize the process parameters with header variables.
The benefit of `detached` is that the processes run independently of `emacs`.

please use `package-lint` (it has a flymake plugin as well) for linting the stuff

Why? It asks for so many pointless things.
* Asks for two spaces after a dot in comment text. Sorry, but not used that way in most of the world. Almost no one writes that way.
* I think it also wants weird texts like "This package is not part of GNU Emacs". Wow,would never have guessed it
* "End of foo.el" ... now I know why I never recognized the end 9f dome random document, this totally useful hint was missing
(I hope I didn't write nonsense, the last time I tried it and run away was some years ago. So a part 9f this rant is from fuzzy memory. I even tried to customize away some of the pointless issues, but it wasn't easy.)

As an Emacs user, are you familiar with the default bindings `M-a` and `M-e`? They are useful when the boundaries between sentences are not ambiguous, which requires more than one space between them.
Just because you don't know what the point of something is doesn't mean there isn't one. See "Chesterton's fence."

well, when you work in a team - you follow the team code style
> I think it also wants weird texts like "This package is not part of GNU Emacs". Wow,would never have guessed it
it doesn't

This really looks amazing and super useful! Thank you!
numkem · 2022-09-23 02:03
Is it possible to configure this to be a per project thing? Like using `.dir-locals.el`?
gopar · 2022-09-23 02:18
Yeah, but I don't understand why that is useful?
You can define everything in your init file for all your projects right there

Two spaces after a dot is just s US americanism. Totally superfluous. It's not liked in many countries, they have different customs. Like 24 hour format, metric system, a different ordering than the weird MM/DD/YYYY date format.
Not accepting different customs but trying to shove your solution down the throat of other cultures isn't exactly culturally sensitive. You don't do this with date and time format, or not with currency formatteing ... so why with end-of-sentence?
github-alphapapa · 2022-09-24 00:42
I've presented a technical and historical argument, and you've replied by reiterating your bandwagon, and by making some kind of accusation of...cultural imperialism? Who's shoving what here? A bizarre axe you have to grind, and over such minutiae. I recommend changing your lens to a less political one.
holgerschurig · 2022-09-27 07:00
Well, if I represent that technically YYYY-MM-DD and 24:00 format is better, and force US people to use this format by way of a popular software ... would you think that people abroad will like that?
Forcing local customs onto others, even when they are supposedly better, is not a nice thing.

I don't know. I can't speak for people abroad. Anyway, I'm from the U.S. and I already use those formats.

Who's forcing anyone to do anything? What are you even talking about?
