Recently I switched to Qtile, and when I try to make Emacs fullscreen, Emacs simply won't fill up all the screen. Instead, it leaves gaps on the top and the bottom.
I am not sure if it has any to do with Emacs, or it's Qtile's problem. But I think it's caused by Emacs itself, since other apps can fill up the screen normally.

(setq frame-resize-pixelwise t)
Does that work?
funk443 · 2022-09-21 16:38
It works, thank you!
Why do I have to set it on Qtile? I didn't set this variable when I am using emacs on i3wm, but the fullscreen still works on it.

Not a clue sorry, I just had that piece of code handy as it fixed Emacs + Stumpwm.

The facts that StumpWM of all things needs a fix for emacs is hilarious.

Probably because Qtile respects hints (min/max size) in fullscreen whereas i3 doesn't (?)

>frame-resize-pixelwise
Some details from the source.
DEFVAR\_BOOL ("frame-resize-pixelwise", frame\_resize\_pixelwise,
doc: /\* Non-nil means resize frames pixelwise.
If this option is nil, resizing a frame rounds its sizes to the frame's
current values of \`frame-char-height' and \`frame-char-width'. If this
is non-nil, no rounding occurs, hence frame sizes can increase/decrease
by one pixel.
With some window managers you may have to set this to non-nil in order
to set the size of a frame in pixels, to maximize frames or to make them
fullscreen. To resize your initial frame pixelwise, set this option to
a non-nil value in your init file. \*/);
frame\_resize\_pixelwise = 0;

Edit: psht, forget this Reddit Web based editor an inline code.

I think if you're not using the fancy markdown editor, you can make code blocks by just putting 4 spaces in front of each line.
