notmuch-show-mode width

hkjels · 2022-09-20 07:02
I've spent a good part of my morning trying to resize the `notmuch-show-buffer` to no avail. No matter what I try, `(window-width)` will return `70` and that only fits `61` characters. I'm a fan of short lines myself, but this is absurd; especially when most of the people I write with tend to add line-breaks at `70`, so I get a bunch of lines with `10` characters or less following. So my question is naturally, how do I resize the window of a `notmuch-show-buffer`? Sorry for the rant

notmuch-show-hook has default value of (notmuch-show-turn-on-visual-line-mode) you might want to (setq notmuch-show-hook nil)

that's for the truncation, but the window remains at width of `70` and cannot be changed. Even something like `(set-window-margin (selected-window) 10 10)` doesn't work.

It was related. `fill-column` was set to `70` for some reason. Finally! Thanks 🐥
