Hi. Longtime (30+ years) emacs user but not using it the way most folks do. I do ASIC design so my code is mostly SystemVerilog with some Python, makefiles, and shell scripts. I don’t use git, either - instead a rare tool called SOS (https://www.cliosoft.com/products/sos/) designed to integrate with CAE tools. Therefore, lots of packages like company don’t easily work with our setup. Instead, I have Verilog compile lists of files and include directories for a project.
Does any know of any project packages that could easily take the compile list files and give us the great features I’m always reading about here? LSP would be amazing since my verification files import many SystemVerilog packages of functions and classes (similar to those in other languages).
Thanks much!

Are you trying to use LSP without having a git repo? I believe you can always create an empty .projectile file in the project’s root directly and emacs-lsp will automatically register it as the root! Haven’t tried it but worth trying!

I think you’re right about the empty .projectile file in the project root

ASIC designer here. I have nothing to offer but my sympathy. SOS is hot garbage. RCS/CVS by any other name is still smells the same.

I've seen worse. It actually came with some emacs support of functions and menu to call sos\_cmd versions of the command-line tools. I hacked an sos-cmd-ediff that automatically exports the current checked-in version of a file and then kicks of ediff of that and the current, modified version.
At least SOS supports soft links and easily allows - and tracks - renaming and moving files / directories. Much better than rcs/cvs. It gets pretty powerful if you use the command-line instead of the GUI.
