Hi guys,
So i am using lsp and rust analyzer to Work with rust on emacs. I did this for a while on my host machine but i want to move to a vm everything
So i setup rust and rust analyzer but i cant make it work Over tramp.
I was facing a problem because i wasnt able to run lsp server and i found this issue https://github.com/brotzeit/rustic/issues/217
After using the solution i solved the issue of not having lsp enabled but now i rust analyzer starts and finishes right away. And it keeps shutinng down for no reason.
The error is: rust analyzer remote starting:1825/exited with status exit
Did anyone faced this and/or can help me solve it?
Thanks

I've successfully used rustic-mode and tramp together. I think I was using eglot though: https://github.com/brotzeit/rustic#client
Maybe you could try eglot instead of lsp-mode?
brotzeitmacher · 2022-09-16 14:18
There's already https://github.com/emacs-lsp/lsp-mode/issues/3491
I don't know why lsp-mode doesn't work with tramp, maybe it's only an issue with rust-analyzer ? No idea, I don't use tramp.
zebisnaga · 2022-09-16 14:34
What do you use instead?
zebisnaga · 2022-09-16 14:34
There's already an issue, looks like
The workaround is to install emacs on the remote machine and use emacs terminal

Thanks for the reply
But did you used that setup Over tramp?
brotzeitmacher · 2022-09-16 14:43
I just don't use rust on remote hosts. I've taken a look at the issue but I don't know how tramp works and I don't have the motivation for a serious attempt to fix it. It's probably not that easy to fix, otherwise somebody would have already fixed it, I guess. Sorry, I hope somebody can find a solution.

No problemo, and thanks for your time
I think i Will try emacs from terminal inside the ssh connection
That would probably work

Yep, rustic-mode + eglot + tramp.

Would you mind providing your config?
plateplate · 2022-09-18 00:44
Sure, here's a link to the rust part. It should be pretty independent of the rest of my config: https://gitlab.com/dmattli/dotemacs/-/blob/master/lisp/rust-config.el
