Hello,

This is more of a random question as I try out various Modal editing schemes. I currently use Meow and While I enjoy it I will be trying Xah fly keys soon as well.

In regards to Meow (or even boon) how worried should i be of the project being unmaintained and my keybindings one day breaking. Should I move towards evil stuff or is this really just overthinking things. for example I know God-mode was depreciated.

TL:DR: should i worry about alternate modal editing styles maybe eventually being depreciated, or is it overthinking?

You're overthinking it.
Meow might not be as old or popular as Evil but it is currently in a pretty healthy state with regular commits and contributions.
As for the risk of it going unmaintained, it's the same as any open-source project.
It might or might not happen but in any case, it can always be forked.
Also, where did you see that god-mode was deprecated?
It's already a very stable and mature package and it does what it does well so it doesn't really require frequent updates anymore.

In the orphanage. Thanks for your insight

No problem.
By the way, it being in the orphanage doesn't mean it's deprecated, it just means its original repository doesn't have a maintainer anymore.
It will still be kept usable and receive occasional maintainance in the orphanage until someone else picks it up.

God-mode might be in the orphanage, but it's not really deprecated.
It's stable enough that it doesn't need changes IMO.
Not all packages have feature churn.
Doom emacs also supports god-mode.

You could always just [roll your own](https://gist.github.com/mmarshall540/70d4baf0b6a42a77aee44efe3283356b), and keep it around for as long as you want.

I’ve been wanting to test something like this. You saved me a lot of time, thanks! I’m getting annoyed by the extra “n” and “p” that end up in my files when sometimes the ctrl key does not register properly
