Doom: how to enable linking a bbdb entry in an org file?

aqjo · 2022-09-08 16:54
I’m just trying to link to a bbdb contact in a org file.I’ve tried gnorb, but the inserted links `[[bbdb:First Last][First Last]]` when invoked just say there is not match, and offers to create a heading. If I open my bbdb database and invoke `M-x org-store-link` **,** the error ‘no method for storing a link from this buffer’ is thrown. As a long shot, I added `+bbdb` to the `:lang org` section in `init.el`, to no avail.I’ve also found in `emacs/modules/lang/org/confi.el` that `ol-bbdb` is commented out (along with everything except `ol-bibtex .` So, it seems maybe I need to enable `ol-bbdb` but I’m not sure if that’s the fix, and the correct place to do that to ensure future doom updates won’t break. Install latest `counsel-bbdb` and insert below setup, ```lisp (defun my-insert-bbdb-org-link () (interactive) (let ((counsel-bbdb-customized-insert (lambda (r append-comma) (let* ((family-name (nth 1 r)) (given-name (nth 2 r)) (display-name (nth 3 r)) (mail (nth 4 r)))) (insert (format "[bbdb:%s %s]]" given-name family-name))))) (counsel-bbdb-complete-mail))) ``` Then `M-x my-insert-bbdb-org-link`

> I need to enable `ol-bbdb` A Doomish way would be this (after! org (pushnew! org-modules 'ol-bbdb)) > I added `+bbdb` to the `:lang org` section in `init.el` You don't have to guess module flags. These are *usually* described in docs (try `doom/help-modules` command, `SPC h d m`). If not, you can visit module directory and search sources for `(modulep! +<flag>)` forms.
