Hi everyone! Last month I've announced a [preview](https://www.reddit.com/r/emacs/comments/wje61l/preview_python_executable_tracker_for_emacs/) of [PET](https://github.com/wyuenho/emacs-pet/). I've received some very valuable feedback over the past month so thank you for giving it a try. I've fixed all the issues reported and the package is now available on Melpa. To recap, PET is a new package that aims to take all of your troubles configuring Emacs to find the correct Python executables from virtualenvs away. It supports poetry, pre-commit, pipenv, pipx, pyenv, direnv, plain old virtualenv and pdm. It works by looking at the config files in your project to determine the right virtualenv tool, then assigns the correct executable paths to buffer local variables of your favorite emacs packages. It also works for repos that use one or combinations of these tools. I hope I can help you delete a bunch of code and dotfiles from your init.el and projects! But why does this need yaml stuff and sqlite?
wyuenho · 2022-09-04 23:23
No thank you for being my beta tester!

Because it needs to parse your yaml files, this is especially the case for pre-commit. However, you most likely already have yq and SQLite installed.

With pleasure - it scratched my long standing itch and peeve that I never got to fixing myself.
