Let me know if I missed anything, or got the order wrong. Background image is https://i.redd.it/bs8w6a6aqu371.jpg
mklsls · 2022-08-29 05:39
In the bottom section, the blue background with black letters make them impossible to read. Maybe you change to white letters or add some white frames to every concept. Good job though.
lebensterben · 2022-08-29 05:39
It's barely readable...
Gus_Gustavsohn · 2022-08-29 05:52
This
Gus_Gustavsohn · 2022-08-29 05:52
I second this
daikatana · 2022-08-29 06:10
Okay, but it's mostly unreadable, especially the most interesting part.
sarit-hadad-enjoyer · 2022-08-29 06:29
Hahah I love it
DefiantAverage1 · 2022-08-29 07:08
wait, you can advice C functions? :o
Boojum · 2022-08-29 07:09
Huh. I'd never noticed that "Did you mean: vi" from Google. Amusingly, if you search for vi, it's the other way around (Did you mean: emacs).
-1Mbps · 2022-08-29 07:13
I cannot see half of it, op make the text white and bold
DesignerDelicious4 · 2022-08-29 07:46
I wish i could read
KuangPoulp · 2022-08-29 07:54
Knowledge so deep I can't read it
Ambitious-One-5860 · 2022-08-29 07:57
So, the deeper you go, the harder it is to know what you're doing (or in the picture, reading) Checks out
ReticulatedHappyEdge · 2022-08-29 08:00
Change the text to white and the lines to yellow and you can earn the upvotes....
hainguyenac · 2022-08-29 08:17
Surely there is something profound in here, I don't know what, but there must be.
Trout_Tickler · 2022-08-29 08:26
The true knowledge is being able to read the damn thing
sunnyata · 2022-08-29 08:59
You missed the bit about people being able to read it.
fuzunspm · 2022-08-29 09:19
please make bottom text readable
copperbranch · 2022-08-29 09:26
OP posts an image whose content is literally unreadable and is still very upvoted just for their intention. Ain't this community awesome?
copperbranch · 2022-08-29 09:30
He just forgot to `C-u M-x visibility-mode`, classic top-of-the-iceberg mistake.
Wynro · 2022-08-29 09:51

It’s almost a metaphor
cynicalrationalist · 2022-08-29 10:27
Thanks for this. I gave up trying to read it at about the 3rd or 4th level Minor correction: in the second layer, it should be "ivy vs helm" (spelling of "ivy")
qoheletal · 2022-08-29 10:46
This picture is probably made with emacs
qoheletal · 2022-08-29 10:47
Can someone please elaborate: >Every copy of emacs is actually personalized
Pay08 · 2022-08-29 10:55
It's impossible to read after the third layer.
crzjp · 2022-08-29 11:01
i want to know too
SteeleDynamics · 2022-08-29 11:19
``` (define lambdas let*) ``` At that point, it's just a different kind of syntactic sugar.
agumonkey · 2022-08-29 11:49
fantastic contrast allegory
oldbeardedtech · 2022-08-29 12:05
Still an emacs novice, but the ability to read black text on a dark background is a life goal
titanofold · 2022-08-29 12:47
@OP, I like the picture just as it is. I get it.
arredi · 2022-08-29 13:00
I would add living in emacs to the list especially after discovering you can email
arredi · 2022-08-29 13:11
Living in emacs aka emacs is a complete operating system. Sasha Chua who posts emacs news and coorganised emacs conference. Emacs rocks videos were quite popular a while ago and got allot people into emacs. Vanilla emacs is all you need. And emacs pinky.
MitchellMarquez42 · 2022-08-29 14:14
You personalize it. My emacs is not your emacs is not u/crzjp's emacs.
qoheletal · 2022-08-29 14:18
What if I just use emacs without any personalisation? I mean, mine is heavily personalised but is there a chance there are two people who just use the vanilla emacs? Also I have my personalisation from a friend and modified it. Meanwhile both of us use the same .emacs. What now?
Dismal-Diver-9419 · 2022-08-29 14:21
If only it was possible to read
dpoggio · 2022-08-29 16:12
Org mode should be on every level, alongside with “code is data” and other mantras you revisit every once in a while.
MitchellMarquez42 · 2022-08-29 16:44
Thanks
Another one. Richard Stallman is not a good person.
e3172 · 2022-08-29 20:43
Ergoemacs is xah fly keys now
ElCondorHerido · 2022-08-29 21:04
Stop complaining about the dark font over dark backgroud. It is clearly that way because someone's workflow depends on that and it can't be changes at this point (regardless of how easy or evidently possitive that'll be). Go look for vscode memes or whatever.
qoheletal · 2022-08-29 21:37
And like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/emacs/comments/dvlnq6/this_restaurant_menu_was_created_using_only_emacs/
BecomingCass · 2022-08-29 22:04
I used vanilla emacs for quite a while, as did probably most of my systems programming class
pinacoelho · 2022-08-29 22:28
Needs more cephalopods underneath…
ocodo · 2022-08-30 00:27
(my one really was, though.)
richardblack3 · 2022-08-30 00:30
Viper levels below evil? Wtf
thetemp_ · 2022-08-30 02:29
Nah, it's two different projects. Both with Xah Lee's involvement, and with similar layout in some respects. But xah-fly-keys is a modal layout. Whereas Ergoemacs uses modifiers like Emacs's default bindings (except with a focus on ergonomics instead of mnemonics). Both are still maintained.
lekkiduchem · 2022-08-30 02:40
What does that even mean? What would be an example use case?
InternalImpact2 · 2022-08-30 03:37
arredi · 2022-08-30 11:09
It is similar to decorators from python. It allow you to run code before, after and arround c functions and their arguments with delayed executions. The standard use case it to add polymorphism to functions or add a cache. Though it has extended facility, in my understanding, to specify how it should treated by the compiler.
