Help with setting up org-roam v2

keysus_christ · 2022-08-24 22:29
I installed org-roam successfully from MELPA as the manual says to do, although I'm having a hard time configuring it. I'm using Doom Emacs. In my init.el, I pasted: ``` (use-package org-roam :ensure t :custom (org-roam-directory (file-truename "/path/to/org-files/")) :bind (("C-c n l" . org-roam-buffer-toggle) ("C-c n f" . org-roam-node-find) ("C-c n g" . org-roam-graph) ("C-c n i" . org-roam-node-insert) ("C-c n c" . org-roam-capture) ;; Dailies ("C-c n j" . org-roam-dailies-capture-today)) :config ;; If you're using a vertical completion framework, you might want a more informative completion interface (setq org-roam-node-display-template (concat "${title:*} " (propertize "${tags:10}" 'face 'org-tag))) (org-roam-db-autosync-mode) ;; If using org-roam-protocol (require 'org-roam-protocol)) ``` With "/path/to/org-files" being my correct directory. When I run `doom sync`, I get [this error](https://i.imgur.com/RIgLkIK.png). "No such file or directory" "use-package-core". So something is wrong with use-package maybe? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Im not doom user, but guess the description of use-package may locate at early beginning of .el or the corresponding setting file.

The way you're installing conflicts with the way doom does it's install. I suggest reading the doom readme on how to install packages. If you want org roam with doom, I recommend you go to your init.el, remove the block that you have there, then open up ~/.doom.d/init.el, find the :lang portion, and look for org. Then, replace "org" with "(org +roam2)". Run doom sync and you should be good.

That is not how you install packages in Doom Emacs. You'll find instructions on how to do it correctly in the documentation. In any case, you should install org-roam as a flag in the org module on your init.el, which is recommended and way more convenient.
