org-bib-mode redesign

A deep redesign of org-bib-mode has been released. It takes advantage of bibtex, org-bibtex, citeproc, oc-csl, imenu, pdf-tools & xwidgets to provide a simple interface for viewing (several modes), adding papers through drag and drop, filtering based on tags or properties, moving entries inside sections, etc.

nice theme

Your posts are the entire reason I am subbed to this place and I hate you for it, because every time that I feel comfortable doing notes or project write ups in Obsidian or something else I see your beautiful work and get sucked back in.
Can you do me a favour and stop the drip feed, you’re killing me with this addiction.
(Obvious /s just in case)

This is just incredible! Thank you.

I'm sorry for asking this random question, but do you mind sharing how to theme org mode this way? Looks pretty sleek!
Great job with org-bib :)
BookkeeperEither9149 · 2022-08-23 10:01
Great package. Do you know an easy way to live sync the annotated file with the usual raw/plain .bib file?
bdarcus · 2022-08-23 10:03
Nice!
I'm not sure if you're interested, but we're trying to figure out how to best add org-bibtex support to citar and/or parsebib, so that one could browse and act on them in citar.

There are some tricky technical details when dealing with a single very large org file that changes a lot.

Nicolas never disappoints, he is truly an inspiration to me :)

Wow... I use Evernote to organize my bibliography, but have recently gotten back into emacs. This might just be what I was looking for!!
Phovox · 2022-08-23 11:47
I find it amazing that the new look& feel of the package is exemplified with the paper "Literate Programming" by Donald Knuth, I think many people are still unaware of this wonderful (and short) paper, even within the org community. If that's your case, go and read it. It is absolutely wonderful
Nice work by the way. I'm gonna try it right now!!
Phovox · 2022-08-23 11:48
Agreed!!! :)
Nicolas-Rougier · 2022-08-23 14:52
Oh, good to know. I intended to integrate citar (through the exported bib file) but I'll wait for the outcome of this dicussion.
Nicolas-Rougier · 2022-08-23 14:53
This woul require to tweak the export to integrate the note as a bibtex field. I think this ight be feasible. Best would be top open an issue to remind me.
Nicolas-Rougier · 2022-08-23 14:54
Thanks :)
Nicolas-Rougier · 2022-08-23 14:54
It's nano theme avaiable from https://github.com/rougier/nano-theme
bdarcus · 2022-08-23 15:24
> ... through the exported bib file
Honestly, that may be a better and simpler approach.
zuegg · 2022-08-23 16:04
Brilliant! Thanks!
AlanYx · 2022-08-23 17:15
If you're looking for the broader project, it's here: https://github.com/rougier/nano-emacs
solaza · 2022-08-23 18:26
This is nuts -- I opened this image thinking wow, nice mockup!
But... this is functional? I am going to be trying this out SO hard.
Gus_Gustavsohn · 2022-08-23 21:17
I’m convinced u/Nicolas-Rougier posts on reddit from the future.
LorenRiccie · 2022-08-24 06:23
How do share the .org annotated bibliographical file between org-mode and AucTeX or an another TeX editor?
Nicolas-Rougier · 2022-08-24 14:10
For the time being, you'll have to use the exported bib file but it seems citar is working on an org backend.

I hate to ask but what is this font?
Excellent work on this
Edit: I think it's SF Mono. Thanks!
Nicolas-Rougier · 2022-08-26 21:24
Roboto Mono. See also https://www.reddit.com/r/emacs/comments/shzif1/n%CE%BBno_font_stack/
