embark-act-all embark/:catch: Symbol’s value as variable is void

olymk2 · 2022-08-22 07:41
(use-package embark :ensure t :bind (("C-." . embark-act) ("M-." . embark-dwim) ("C-a" . 'embark-act-all) ("C-h B" . embark-bindings)) :init ;; Optionally replace the key help with a completing-read interface (setq prefix-help-command #'embark-prefix-help-command) :config ;; Hide the mode line of the Embark live/completions buffers (add-to-list 'display-buffer-alist '("\\`\\*Embark Collect \\(Live\\|Completions\\)\\*" nil (window-parameters (mode-line-format . none))))) Can anyone tell me why the above raises embark/:catch: Symbol’s value as variable is void I understand the error but I don't get why embark-act-all would be void, I don't believe i need to include another package to make it work do I ? I have quoted it in my config to make the error go away for the moment.

("C-a" . 'embark-act-all) You have a quote in front of `embark-act-all`, unlike the other bindings.

Yeah I am aware that stop the issue, if I remove the quote then I get the error during startup but so that emacs continues processing my config I have placed the quote there temporarily

Okay. Well, when you're asking for help, it's best to share the actual code that fails. And more generally, i would suggest simply commenting out the line: :bind (("C-." . embark-act) ("M-." . embark-dwim) ;; ("C-a" . embark-act-all) ("C-h B" . embark-bindings)) That said, i don't use `use-package` myself, so i'll have to leave it to others to suggest possible explanations/solutions.

add :commands embark-act-all this makes it autoloadable.
olymk2 · 2022-08-24 07:58
Thanks that is the missing part, I no longer need to quote and the error is gone :)
lebensterben · 2022-08-24 08:05
I recommend to make a feature request to the upstream to make this command autoloaded by default.

Oh my! Do I really not have an autoload for embark-act-all? I'll fix that.
