How do you make vterm as colorful?
WallyMetropolis · 2022-08-17 13:06
For me, it seems to be colorful out of the box.

Colors are stored in vterm-color-palette. The colors can be modified by themes.

You can get support for 256 colours in `term` or `ansi-term` by installing `eterm-256color` and then adding `eterm-256color-mode` to `term-mode-hook`. Here is a minimal `~/init.el` that shows what needs to be done: ;; Package setup. (require 'package) (add-to-list 'package-archives '("melpa" . "https://melpa.org/packages/") t) (package-initialize) (unless package-archive-contents (package-refresh-contents)) ;; Install eterm-256-color. (dolist (package '(eterm-256color)) (unless (package-installed-p package) (package-install package))) ;; Enable eterm-256color-mode in terminals. (add-hook 'term-mode-hook #'eterm-256color-mode) You probably have your own way to install packages. In that case, the only two important lines above are the `package-install` call to install `eterm-256color` and the `add-hook` call to set up the necessary hook. When you first run `M-x term RET` or `M-x ansi-term RET`, it will automatically show prompts for installing `eterm-color` and `eterm-256color.ti`. Once you answer `y` to both, you should be all set up. Then confirm your terminal is correctly set up by running these commands on your shell: echo $TERM tput colors for i in {0..255}; do tput setaf $i; printf "%4d" "$i"; done; echo for i in {0..255}; do tput setab $i; printf "%4d" "$i"; done; echo Here is what the output should look like: https://i.imgur.com/5hbc34T.png

Is it possible to make compilation mode to use vterm as well?
lebensterben · 2022-08-17 21:03
Nope afaik. Some language major modes may alter the comint-mode and makes it look better.
