The choice of tweets for the preview is a bit strange.

Very strange indeed, what is the point of the tweet even be, so are we supposed to ignore one of the big factor driving global warming because another big factor get a "nice" sensationalized image? Now what if someone make another "nice" image of all the cows farting, are we supposed to switch opinion again then? Complaining about the media and then posting something even worse is the today trend, I guess.

Is `twittering-mode` being maintained again? Even the EmacsWiki page seems to have disappeared (giving me a `404 Not Found` error).

maintained? seemingly not really (2018 it looks like - [https://github.com/hayamiz/twittering-mode](https://github.com/hayamiz/twittering-mode) ), but it still works. (EmacsWiki: [https://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/TwitteringMode](https://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/TwitteringMode) seems up still for me.)

I think this is called whataboutism and seeing this kind of crap in the emacs subreddit is a bit sad.

Yeah, twittering-mode had some severe bugs the last time I tried to use it (about 4 years ago).

Wallstreet Bets pfp says it all…

Another approach to this is to use [bitlbee] (https://www.bitlbee.org/)'s [twitter support](https://wiki.bitlbee.org/HowtoTwitter) and your favorite Emacs IRC client to access that. This is especially nice if you are using bitlbee anyway.

Did you expect any better from Twitter?

I think the point is they expected better from OP than to echo the worst bullshit on twitter.
