Recently I was having trouble with my qtile config, made some errors and got booted back to the tty... For ducks sake not again! I slowly began muttering to myself, until I realized there was no need for the bloat that is a window manager.
startx /usr/bin/emacs -geometry 223x58-0-0
This command is a gift from the gods, all you could ever want. Set as an alias to 'emacs-tty'!
The only downfall is the fonts... Not really sure what fonts can be used, and emojis aren't working. If anyone knows how to solve this that would be great.
Other than that, stop torturing yourself with a non-graphical emacs!!

You can definitely run it like this, but the precise geometry will vary from display to display. You're better off calling `TOGGLE-FRAME-FULLSCREEN` from `AFTER-MAKE-FRAME-FUNCTIONS`, as it'll make it fill the screen it's on no matter what the dimensions.
I ran Emacs that way on my PocketCHIP for a while, and found it surprisingly usable, as long as you never run a program that brings up another X window.

> the bloat that is a window manager.
Oh, c'mon. :) There's a reason window managers go back as far as moments after the first windows existed, and there are plenty that don't have "bloat".
(concerns about "bloat" are more often than not completely unwarranted, but there's no accounting for taste, ymmv, &c &c.)

This is awesome, and a much much better solution!
But ummm, how and where does this go? init.el? I tested it using m-x toggle-frame-fullscreen.
Sorry for the stupid question, I am still converting to the darkside so to speak :)

Yup hahah still love my window managers. It's just rather overkill for my needs on the laptop, basically just emacs. Which is why I jokingly said, although not completely untrue here, that they are bloat.

Stick it somewhere in your init files, the specific location will vary based on your setup. Either `~/.emacs.d/init.el` (my preference) or `~/.emacs`.
(add-hook 'after-make-frame-functions 'toggle-frame-fullscreen)

Why not use emacs *as* your window manager?
