`(setq inhibit-startup-echo-area-message user-login-name)` does not work

I am on emacs 29. I don't have a fancy setup. I just start emacs with the "emacs" command. I still see the message "For information about GNU Emacs..." in the echo area. Why is it not working? I also used a string constant (of my username) instead of user-login-name, but it still does not work. Thanks!

Using a constant in the top lines of my init.el has been working for me for as long as I can remember

I have it set to my username via "Easy Customization". Works fine. But if you want to really go deep on this issue, [this blog on the topic](https://yrh.dev/blog/rant-obfuscation-in-emacs/) is pretty entertaining.

Good find, it's time I dive back into this issue and it looks like someone has already done the work for me It's useful to me because like many others, different machines use different usernames and that pollutes my unstaged section in Git
