Anyone happen to use `minimap-mode` (elpa)? I thought I'd give it a shot and it seems nice. But when I, i.e. `split-window-right` I find that the two vertical panes are not distributed evenly across the frame minus the minimap window. How would I approach fixing this?

You would check the algorithm/code where minimap-mode does the actual window adjustment and after setting yourself into how it works, you would try to come up with a better/different strategy, if possible.

I knew I was going to regret asking it this way 😂

I’ve actually done this for other elisp but I suppose I was scared off by it being on elpa vs. melpa and having no idea how PRs work in that world.

:-) It was hard to resist.

There is probably some Github/Gitlab/Whatever repo somewhere where you can give a PR to the original author and let him worry about those details? If it was me, I would think about elpa/melpa when I have done the fix.
Be it in elpa means you will have to sign up for FSF policy if it is deemed as a significant change, which this might be. Signing is easy. Just send them mail on emacs-devel mail list and they will send you papers which you can either print or just take a photo of with your cellphone. Make a pdf of photos (2 sides) and send them back in mail, it realy is like 1 minute job.
But if you don't wanna sign, you can always put the modified version in nelpa/melpa, keep it in some public repo of yours, or simply enjoy it yourself :).
