How to configure the Helpful package for using it with Vertico

Hello, I would like to ditch Ivy/Counsel for Vertico. There is a package called "helpful" that I had configured like so: (use-package helpful :after counsel :bind ([remap describe-key] . helpful-key) ([remap describe-command] . helpful-command) ([remap describe-variable] . counsel-describe-variable) ([remap describe-function] . counsel-describe-function) :custom (counsel-describe-function-function #'helpful-callable) (counsel-describe-variable-function #'helpful-variable)) The package was used to improve the default help system by providing more contextual information. I think I need to remove the counsel related lines. Right? However, I'm not sure how to map the keys in that case. The github page for helpful package says: ;; Note that the built-in `describe-function' includes both functions ;; and macros. `helpful-function' is functions only, so we provide ;; `helpful-callable' as a drop-in replacement. (global-set-key (kbd "C-h f") #'helpful-callable) (global-set-key (kbd "C-h v") #'helpful-variable) (global-set-key (kbd "C-h k") #'helpful-key) So that means that I don't need to use `remap describe-variable` and `remap describe-function`?

You can remap them to helpful-variable and helpful-function.

This doesn't seem to work: ([remap describe-function] . helpful-callable)

Ok, my mistake. It seems to work fine now.

This is how I configured it. (use-package helpful :bind ([remap describe-key] . helpful-key) ([remap describe-command] . helpful-command) ([remap describe-variable] . helpful-variable) ([remap describe-function] . helpful-callable)) I removed the counsel-related lines so I can move to Vertico safely. It seems to work so far. The only thing is that I see a confirmation like: Searched 1/1 files. See here: https://i.ibb.co/h87B8q9/Screenshot-from-2022-08-02-20-32-25.png I don't remember having that text show up while I was using the counsel commands with Helpful.

It shows up for me as well. It comes from elisp-refs which helpful uses. You can turn it off by setting elisp-refs-verbose to nil. I'm not sure why it defaults to t.
