I am unable to remap M-1 or M-2 to my shortcuts in Spacemacs

Can any of you guys on a Mac try remapping M-1 or M-2 to something and let me know whether you experience the same problem or not? Also, if macOS users are not able to try it on their machine, perhaps even Linux or Windows people could try it if they are able to do that with Alt which is Meta on Linux.
