Started using today. I did not know that I needed it until now.

Currently using it for my freelance work to keep track of how many hours I'm spending on which tasks. Afterwards I use \`org-table-export\` to create a CSV file which can be used to create an invoice. If you haven't already, check out all the available options to format your table. [https://orgmode.org/manual/The-clock-table.html](https://orgmode.org/manual/The-clock-table.html) \`:properties\` allows you to extract properties from TODOs and place them in your table. Absolutely amazing!

Thanks. Probably will take a week or 2 to get used to it. Is it possible to do pomodoro with it? Possibly with desktop notifications.

this is *essential* for me otherwise i forget what I do on any given day

I don’t have to report my hours but I use this a lot together with having clocked times in my agenda. Makes it easy to see what I spend the day on, when I feel like nothing happened but it’s 4pm and time to go home 😂

I had no idea you could get a percentage of time, that's great thank you!
PersonalityOwn4076 · 2022-07-21 20:09
THANK YOU! I was like "What are they talking about" then ran it, so cool. Now I just need to figure out how to really use it! Edit: Can someone explain to me what I'm doing wrong. I am trying to figure out the time spent on the current file I am using, and put the code chunk below in the file. I spent 10 minutes writing stuff then ran `org-dblock-update`, but the total time still says "0:00"? `#+BEGIN: clocktable :scope file :maxlevel 2 :block untilnow` `...` `#+END`

You may want to give [org-pomodoro](https://github.com/marcinkoziej/org-pomodoro) and [org-wild-notifier](https://github.com/akhramov/org-wild-notifier.el) a try :)

Have you clocked out of the current element? (Then reevaluate the clock report block)
PersonalityOwn4076 · 2022-07-22 14:19
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by the current element? As in, left the buffer or left the org clock section? I didn't leave the buffer, and I did leave the org clock section.

You need to use org-clock-into clock in and org-clock-out to clock out. It prompts you to clock out when closing the buffer through ibuffer/closing emacs (usually at least, i think) but for me I need to remember to clock out manually because I either use sleep or shutdown when I leave work. if you try to clock in after forgetting to clock out the day before, org-clock raises a prompt to resolve the open clock. Still I’d do sanity check on the clock report as it’s possible to run clocks simultaneously despite this. The format inside the LOG-drawer is: [2022-07-20 we 08:00]—[2022-07-20 we 16:00] if you type it in manually it will work just like when using clock-in and clock-out. This is also the default format for time ranges in general, and you can use shift+UP or shift+DOWN to adjust the time and date of this kind of timestamp. minutes are rounded to multiple of five.

Thank you! I knew I had to be missing something pretty basic! I appreciate the help!
