/u/protesilaos Prot, may I ask you for any hint about this?
protesilaos · 2022-07-23 12:39
Yes, sure. Though note I only saw this because I got the notification in my email. The best way to get an answer to this type of question is to post on any of the supported channels. I always reply in a timely fashion: + Package name (GNU ELPA): `modus-themes` (also built into Emacs >= 28) + Official manual: <https://protesilaos.com/emacs/modus-themes> + Change log: <https://protesilaos.com/emacs/modus-themes-changelog> + Colour palette: <https://protesilaos.com/emacs/modus-themes-colors> + Sample pictures: <https://protesilaos.com/emacs/modus-themes-pictures> + Git repo on SourceHut: <https://git.sr.ht/~protesilaos/modus-themes> - Mirrors: + GitHub: <https://github.com/protesilaos/modus-themes> + GitLab: <https://gitlab.com/protesilaos/modus-themes> + Mailing list: <https://lists.sr.ht/~protesilaos/modus-themes>

I'm in enemy territory here in /r/emacs, but I can't reply to you [here](https://old.reddit.com/r/vim/comments/9lnduh/light_highcontrast_colortheme/) anymore and I just wanted to thank you for your exceptional work on these themes!

You are welcome! I don't think it is "enemy territory" per se. There is respect, plus there are lots of users who opt for evil-mode (basically Vim capabilities for Emacs).

Just a joke :-) I have tried emacs in evil mode with Doom and I thought it was really impressive, but it seemed to want me to do things "the emacs way" that it was my instinct to drop into the shell to do. So I took away an impression that vi and emacs are actually a bit more distinct from each other than people sometimes make it sound, and I bet there are a lot of people who use both.

> Just a joke :-) Cool! > my instinct to drop into the shell Ah yes, I had that as well in my first days with Emacs. You will only benefit from Emacs once you embrace its extended functionality. You have to think of it more as a tmux+vim kind of workflow. Then you add to that the potential of a "lisp machine" which can be extended for practically anything. It is not a 1-to-1 comparison with Vim. It ultimately is a matter of workflow. Both are good in their own right. I talked about this at LibrePlanet 2022: <https://protesilaos.com/codelog/2022-03-22-libreplanet-emacs-living-freedom/>. > and I bet there are a lot of people who use bot Indeed! They are not mutually exclusive.
