I install emacs@28 from https://emacsformacosx.com, then I installed `slime`, because I want to write Common Lisp in emacs.
After I installed `slime`, I type `M-x slime`, it showed: *apply: Doing vfork: No such file or directory"*.
Anybody has same issue like me?

I had the same error myself (although triggered by org-roam), it just means that a file or directory is missing or not accessible. Try to start emacs with the debug options to find out which files trigger the error and then go from there. Im not on MacOS so I can’t really speak more specifically than that

I met the error when I ran command: `slime`.

It's `/usr/local/bin/sbcl` that is missing, not `vfork`. Not on MacOS at the moment, but MacOS tends to encourage installation of binaries in different places. I hope a `slime` expert can guide you on how to configure it to find the `sbcl` program in a MacOS installation.

thanks!!!! not lack of `vfork` but `sbcl` path is wrong.... my bad.

The error message is worded in a pretty confusing manner. To launch a process, Emacs uses [vfork](https://linux.die.net/man/3/vfork). This failed, so it displays the failed operation and the error message, but not the program it tried to launch.

Did you check if the sbcl executable is present in the referenced directory?

thanks! I have solved!
