Hey folks,
In my office i got Emacs installed with org mode. However elpa repos are not accessible due to proxy restrictions. My question is that how i can get maximum out of Emacs on bare minimum. Following are things I would like to do
1. Read emails (we use outlook)
2. Excel or CSV manipulation (export, import things and other)
3. Use it as a python IDE (This is very imp)
What I can do now....
1. Use org mode for managing my to-do and other tasks
2. Notes taking

You may want to consider setting up offline archives: https://github.com/d12frosted/elpa-mirror

Create local Emacs package repository from installed packages.
The repository built from your installed packages is actually very small (5~10M).

gnus or rmail for email. Org mode can do spreadsheets including formulas. python-mode for python. All vanilla.
