DAP makes it possible to implement a generic debugger, but when editing launch.json, which part specifies those key-value pairs(like program, cwd, MIMode and so on). DAP protocol itself, or adapters?
For example, vscode-cpptools has a keyword MIMode indicating which debugger that VS Code(emacs) will connect to, but will other adapter support MIMode? Who determine this?

The adapters. launch/attach requests in the protocol accept a set of properties.

In this section of my config you can find some “debug configurations” for python/pyright: https://www.lucacambiaghi.com/vanilla-emacs/readme.html#h:85405E87-7858-4F5C-A229-B72E70F68597

My current understanding of it is:
- at first, VSCode team implemented `vscode-cpptools` + DAP, which specified some properties like {`program`,`cwd`,`targetArchitecture`}, then other adapters may follow these properties, but in fact actually this could be totally free, am I right?
- editors should tell DA which exectable to debug via DAP, but this doesn't have to under `program` property?
- properties would be restricted to DAP?
