Hey everyone, I've been trying out emacs and really enjoying it! But been having a heckuva time getting it to launch smoothly, with the default settings.
I'm on Win10, and I'm getting an "end of file" error that (I think) is preventing my settings from launching (mainly the theme right now, doom-one).
I followed a tutorial setting up a buncha stuff like package managers, and I checked for matching brackets/parens, but I'm not sure what else to try.
I've followed directions [here](https://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/EmacsMsWindowsIntegration) for getting debug mode, but it's not working, it just opens cmd and that stays blank.
Any thoughts/help?
**Edit - here's the full error:**
Warning (initialization): An error occurred while loading ‘c:/Users/moses/.emacs’:
End of file during parsing: c:/Users/moses/.emacs
To ensure normal operation, you should investigate and remove the cause of the error in your initialization file. Start Emacs with the ‘--debug-init’ option to view a complete error backtrace.
**Edit2 - Resolved!**
Found some really helpful tips on stackexchange:
* Use **M-x check-parens** to troubleshoot brackets and parentheses
* C-M-f will scroll through brackets too, and halt at unmatched brackets, but the behaviour wasn't as obvious and check-parens helped me more.
* Once those were fixed, **--debug-init** highlighted issues with the projectile package, so I just commented it out for now.
