Org-Protocol/Capture Bookmarklet for Safari?

TyrionBean · 2022-06-15 07:22
Hey there, Another newbie question: Does anyone here use Safari with org-capture? I'm using Emacs Plus and I \*think\* it may have org-protocol already out of the box. I'm looking to capture web pages with a bookmarklet for Safari. If anyone out there has a setup that works, could you please share it? I've been going nuts for a few days trying to get it to work to no avail. I've found JS bookmarklets that work with Chrome and Firefox but not Safari and I don't know nearly enough code to fix it. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Hello there, Shameless plug: https://macowners.club/posts/org-capture-from-everywhere-macos/

You ARE the man! It took me a few attempts to figure out the process because coding is such a finicky thing, but I owe you my thanks. It works! I even bookmarked your post and gitlab link using it and transferred it to my notes. Absolutely frigging wonderful. I'm wondering why this post isn't found at the top of the list when searching for org-protocol Mac and other terms like that, but I'm very glad that you replied. There's only one problem, with the final capture you list to archive the page (with the panic install). I run it and I get the following error from Workflow as a pop-up in Finder: EDIT: I figured out the no keystrokes permissions problem. I had to add Safari, Automator, Script Utility, and AppleScript app to accessibility. I also added emacs and emacsclient as well. Now it's not giving me the error. It's not archiving the page that I can see but posting th e link in [notes.org](https://notes.org). Not sure how to archive yet and will continue debugging but as for the rest of the captures, they work great so I'm not complaining. Thank you very much.

I think the last step is. You have to select the part of the archive/post/page upfront. I haven't yet got around to adjust the functions to automatically select the content.
