While my cursor (denoted by `|`) is on an outline item, like so:
* Test note about|
:properties:
:created: [2022-06-14 Tue 20:40]
:end:
I hit `C-c n i` for insert node (`org-roam-node-insert`). This'll prompt me for a node name (search or create). I enter `Meditation`, and am presented with this:
* Test note about [[id:2022-06-14T204357.007276][Meditation]]
:properties:
:created: [2022-06-14 Tue 20:40]
:ID: 2022-06-14T204357.007580
:end:
So not only did the document `meditation.org` have been generated and linked to, BUT, to my surprise, also this outline item `* Test note about _Meditation_` has also gotten an ID! See properties section below outline item: `:ID: 2022-06-14T204357.007580`.
Why does it create an ID for this outline section as well, when in fact I just want to create ONE node only, for `Meditation` in this case.
Is this a bug? Something I can configure differently?

AFAIK `org-roam` uses `org-capture` for new notes. The effect you describe might be caused by `org-id-link-to-org-use-id` user option set to `t`.

Indeed this is what I had in my `init.el`:
(setq org-id-link-to-org-use-id t)
And commenting it out, solved my problem.
Thank you very much! I would have never poinpointed that without help.

## Edit
How did you find *this* out, if I may ask? :)

I set that variable to `t` last month, so that was an easy guess.
I don't use `org-roam` *yet*, so setting ID's on everything didn't hurt. But now I see the implications for `org-roam`. Thanks for this post.

But generally I would follow [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/emacs/comments/v0gcvd/comment/iaglzxl/) approach with profiler and debugger, given I don't have any idea where I messed my configs.
