Hey Emacsers! Long time no see :)
In this video, I'll show you how to use Emacs 28.1's built-in Modus Themes to create a nice-looking Emacs configuration without installing any extra packages! These themes are highly configurable and I only scratch the surface of what you can do with them.
Show notes are here: https://systemcrafters.net/emacs-from-scratch/the-modus-themes/

I used to like all the colors but now I keep it to a minimum, I do like the higher contrast when possible though:
(use-package modus-themes
:pin melpa
:ensure t
:init
(setq modus-themes-org-blocks 'gray-background
modus-themes-fringes 'subtle
modus-themes-italic-constructs t
modus-themes-bold-constructs t
modus-themes-syntax '(alt-syntax)
modus-themes-hl-line '(intense)
modus-themes-paren-match '(intense)
modus-themes-mode-line '(moody borderless))
(setq modus-themes-headings
(quote ((1 . (overline variable-pitch 1.4))
(2 . (overline variable-pitch 1.25))
(3 . (overline 1.1))
(t . (monochrome))))))
