dabbrev is pretty much the best autocompletion ...

This seems to be a fine question for r/vscode, but prepare with featurelist of dabbrev for those heretics

How about "dabbrev-expand" ? [vscode marketplace: dabbrev-expand](https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=kiwanamie.dabbrev-expand)

This was added as a built-in option, Editor: Word Based Suggestions, but it's computed as part of IntelliSense-like suggestions so is slow, \[might not show if it has "better" suggestions\]([https://stackoverflow.com/a/55219340/239657](https://stackoverflow.com/a/55219340/239657)), and pops up a list you have to select from, whereas I prefer dabbrev's display of one closest completion and repeated presses replacing with more distant ones. So it's still worth installing an extension for fast dabbrev expansions, and only them. I also tried https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=cvzakharchenko.unabbreviate but I'm not sure it works well across buffers, dabbrev-expand linked by tsma9 seems better at that?
