gnus limitation on sending addresses

Gnus has a limitation that it cannot bind more than one "from" sending method to the same outgoing server. This means that my three different gmail sending methods won't normally work despite using different credentials. My work-around is effective, though it has a couple of limitations. Here's what I do: edit my /etc/hosts file to include "aliases" to the same IP address, which IP I can usually get by. eg, using ping. The lines in /etc/hosts end up looking something like this: 74.125.142.109 smtp.gmail2.com 74.125.142.109 smtp.gmail3.com At that point I just say to Gnus that my outgoing server is using the gmail2, or gmail3 server, etc. Problems with this are for some of my outgoing servers on dynamic IPs that periodically change, meaning that I need to change my etc/hosts file to keep up with their changes. The other problem builds on this since I changed to guix, when changing my etc hosts isn't as trivial as it once was, this is constructed from `guix reconfigure`, which can be more time consuming. Does anyone have a more graceful work around?

>Gnus has a limitation that it cannot bind more than one "from" sending method to the same outgoing server. That limitation may exist, but I don't know that it does. Why do you think it does? What is your gnus config? Edit: perhaps this can help: https://www.bounga.org/tips/2020/05/03/multiple-smtp-accounts-in-gnus-without-external-tools/

Whoa! I can't wait to try that. I definitely fall into one of the "I looked it up years ago and did the /etc/hosts thing..." That message seems to completely overrule that.
