Handle more complex use cases in Org Calendar?

I have been using Org Calendar for a while and I have always been frustrated that it can only handle very simple use cases. Here are 2 more "complex" examples: 1. I have university classes from a given given date to a given date, twice a week, always at the same hours. (Ex, Mon 11:00, Wed 10:00, every week, from Jan 1st to Apr 1st) 2. I want to handle some tasks every month, but always on the same week day (Monday). So, what I want is to have a repeatable task that repeats on the first Monday of every month. Many people have asked the same questions on stackoverflow. ([\[1\]](https://stackoverflow.com/questions/13555385/org-mode-how-to-schedule-repeating-tasks-for-the-first-saturday-of-every-month),[\[2\]](https://emacs.stackexchange.com/questions/16680/org-mode-schedule-1-event-for-multiple-days),[\[3\]](https://stackoverflow.com/questions/2464598/org-mode-schedule-weekly-event-for-a-period)) The solutions always seem like hacks and come with important issues. As an example, in order to have my university classes (use case #1 above), I just create one org heading for my class and add all the timestamps for the whole semester under this heading. This means that I cannot mark that heading as DONE. The alternative would have been to duplicate the heading for each day (so create like 50 headings with the same title). This is what I meant when I said that there is no "good" solution. The use cases I have given above seem quite simple and common to me. How do people actually resolve them in a satisfying way? Is Org Calendar the wrong tool to handle them? Have I been missing something obvious? Thanks!
