Have you ran "M-x all-the-icons-install-fonts"?
yigitemres · 2022-06-05 11:24
If you use Unix you have to > M-x all-the-icons-install-fonts and then > fc-cache -f -v If you use windows you have to install fonts manually. > For Windows, this function will prompt for a download directory for you to install them manually. https://github.com/domtronn/all-the-icons.el#installation=

Thanks for the suggestions u/X7and7 and u/yigitemres, I have done that in the past but just to be sure I ran those again. Still no change (I restarted emacs as well).

I think that your problem is this (assuming your on Windows): When you install the font you have to use `Install for all users` option. For some reason windows don't install fonts correctly if you don't use the option.

Can you specify which version of Debian? I'm gonna install debian for that specific version and try it myself in vm.

Try to install a font with a richer emoji support, like joypixels. This is what you should be seeing: ``` position: 10526 of 84870 (12%), column: 47 character: 🎄 (displayed as 🎄) (codepoint 127876, #o371604, #x1f384) charset: unicode (Unicode (ISO10646)) code point in charset: 0x1F384 ftcrhb:-GOOG-JoyPixels-normal-normal-normal-*-16-*-*-*-*-0-iso10646-1 (#x178) ```
