Orgmode: Hide leading chars `#+`

pragmat1c1 · 2022-06-04 21:36
I have come across a video from Protesilaos [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEQipHmt8ps](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEQipHmt8ps) where he shows an org document in which `#+title: ` is shown as `title: `. How is he able to hide the leading chars `#+` in his text? Anyone can point me to the right setup?

If you are interesting in having a slightly cleaner org mode, maybe take a look at this too: https://github.com/amno1/org-view-mode

A raw, simple, basic approach you might like for this and more (use-package prog-mode :ensure nil :after org :hook ;; unhide prettify to ease edit with point at the and of a symbol ;;(prettify-symbols-unprettify-at-point 'right-edge) ;; substitude a sequence of char with a single UTF-8 symbol (org-mode-hook . (lambda () "Beautify Org Checkbox Symbol" (push '("[ ]" . "☐") prettify-symbols-alist) (push '("[X]" . "☑" ) prettify-symbols-alist) (push '("[-]" . "❍" ) prettify-symbols-alist) (push '("#+BEGIN_SRC" . "↦" ) prettify-symbols-alist) (push '("#+END_SRC" . "⇤" ) prettify-symbols-alist) (push '("#+BEGIN_EXAMPLE" . "↦" ) prettify-symbols-alist) (push '("#+END_EXAMPLE" . "⇤" ) prettify-symbols-alist) (push '("#+BEGIN_QUOTE" . "↦" ) prettify-symbols-alist) (push '("#+END_QUOTE" . "⇤" ) prettify-symbols-alist) (push '("#+begin_quote" . "↦" ) prettify-symbols-alist) (push '("#+end_quote" . "⇤" ) prettify-symbols-alist) (push '("#+begin_example" . "↦" ) prettify-symbols-alist) (push '("#+end_example" . "⇤" ) prettify-symbols-alist) (push '("#+begin_src" . "↦" ) prettify-symbols-alist) (push '("#+end_src" . "⇤" ) prettify-symbols-alist) (push '("#+begin_abstract" . "«" ) prettify-symbols-alist) (push '("#+end_abstract" . "»" ) prettify-symbols-alist) (push '(">=" . "≥") prettify-symbols-alist) (push '("<=" . "≤") prettify-symbols-alist) (push '("=>" . "⇨") prettify-symbols-alist) (push '("#+results:" . "") prettify-symbols-alist) (push '("#+RESULTS:" . "") prettify-symbols-alist) (push '(":PROPERTIES:" . "") prettify-symbols-alist) (push '(":properties:" . "") prettify-symbols-alist) (push '(":END:" . "") prettify-symbols-alist) (push '(":end:" . "") prettify-symbols-alist) (prettify-symbols-mode)))) These are just examples from my config, you can substitute anything and not only in org-mode.

What does this have to do with `prog-mode`?
ftrx · 2022-06-05 12:49
It's defined there, `prettify-symbols-mode` definition live in prog-mode.el part of Emacs upstream distribution that's why the `:ensure nil` part since can't be installed, it's already there.
