Looking for a beginners guide to setting up eMacs on windows (for Julia, and also org)

Does anyone have a step by step guide to “beginners” for setting up eMacs in windows for Julia (programming language)?
I’m completely unfamiliar to setting up environments or configurations (aside from copy pasting templates from friends). Looking for help. I have used vim before and I really love the keyboard macros (since I’ll be doing a bit of metaprogramming, and in-line assembly too in Julia, such features will be very handy).
(Why don’t I want to use another OS? Handwritten Note taking using stylus is a big part of my workflow and I’ve found windows machines to work best for it. Not a simple task to install BSD or Linux on surface devices. Also quite a lot of windows exclusive software for my use case)
Also, is it possible to have eMacs display the custom variable names (like smileys, and latex symbols) available in Julia?
I’m currently using this tutorial but even that is quite inconsistent : https://youtu.be/Iagbv974GlQ (the first step at 3.49 throws a warning on my pc, stating unnecessary call to package initialize at unit. Also at 3.35, how did he clear off the entire text quickly?)
Apart from using for Coding for Julia programs, I am also curious about learning org mode in eMacs. (I do make slides every week and I feel that org mode will help me make it more streamlined)

(Just as a heads-up, it's 'Emacs' not 'eMacs'. 'eMacs' are these things: https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=emac&iax=images&ia=images)

Gotcha. The iOS autocorrect messes it up whenever I try to make it lower case.

Heh, fair enough. :-)

At 3:35, I'm pretty sure that's just a cut in the editing but you can quickly delete a line like that using C-S-<backspace> (Control + Shift + Backspace) which should be bound to the function `(kill-whole-line)`.
As for your error, the reason is because for some reason in that video, he has `(package-initialize)` set twice. You only need it once at the beginning. In fact the second `(package-initialize)` I would replace with `(package-refresh-contents)` instead. That way we know Emacs has access to the latest package repositories after adding melpa to the list.
After that for basic julia support you'll probably want to install [julia-mode](https://github.com/JuliaEditorSupport/julia-emacs). There's instructions there in the readme about installing it from melpa. You should be able to just add those lines to your init file after `(package-refresh-contents)`.
Beyond that I'd recommend this series of videos by David Wilson of System Crafters:

I haven't used Emacs on Windows much so if there are Windows specific issues you encounter that you can't resolve then maybe considering setting up WSL and installing Emacs in there.
Before all this though, I would recommend going through the Emacs Tutorial you see on the landing page of Emacs when you first start it up.

You could try [emacs-groundup](https://gitlab.com/public-repositories/emacs-groundup).
It caters to Linux users but should be straightforward to adapt to Windows as well.

The easiest is to install emacs with ess by Vincent Goulet. There is a windows and Mac version

Hey, I use Emacs, write Julia code, and use Org extensively (including for slides). To give what hopefully is a helpful overview:
- I use the [Doom](https://github.com/doomemacs/doomemacs) Emacs framework/starter kit, and would recommend it
- Doom has 'modules' for vim keybindings, LSP, Julia setup, and some Org setup
- I use the Julia LSP server, but I haven't played around much. I've heard good things about Julia-snail
- I'm pretty happy with Org for presentations, you can easily turn each (sub)heading into a slide. I use the "beamer" backend but I know plenty of people with ox-re-reveal too.

Thank you very much. I think I found a nice guide to set it up on windows.

could you stop writing emacs "eMacs"? it makes me uncomfortable just looking at it. And honestly looks like intentionally trying to make a gnu projects look like it's related to Mac.

I’m sorry it’s not my intention. The ios device keeps defaulting it as autocorrect and I gave up.

Thank you sooo much. This fixed it. Now it works great for Julia coding.
Looking to set up the org mode too soon!

Thanks a lot. I got the basics fixed now (looks like the guide I followed has an error: the video I shared in original post). Now it works nice for Julia. Going to set up the org mode too using the guide you have shared.

Yeah, apple is pretty annoying with this. The funny thing is: these Macs weren’t half as relevant as Emacs.

Awesome! Have fun, and let me know if you have any difficulty following the instructions :)
