Has anyone gotten geben to work on emacs? (DOOM Emacs, Mac OS m1)

I am not sure what I'm supposed to be looking at with geben. Are we supposed to be able to see breakpoints? Is there an extra GUI that will pop up? I have tried a lot of commands and haven't seen a single thing that resembles a debugger. It appears the debugger works once, and then can never be shut off even after running geben-end as indicated in [this github issue](https://github.com/ahungry/geben/issues/49). I am able to stop my code once, but I don't see any indicators in emacs itself that a breakpoint was actually hit. I just know the code is stalled where I had set the breakpoint. If I try running the code again, I get a "connection refused, already debugging" which shouldn't be happening after running geben-end Has anyone actually gotten this working?

Is there a reason to use geben over dap-mode these days?

Obviously yes, people have gotten geben to work. Once the debugger kicks in initially, are you using `geben-find-file` to open files to do debugging things? If not, I expect that'll be your problem.

I'm not sure! I only heard of dap-mode after posting this. Though I'm having trouble getting that setup on php

The debugger doesn't kick in. The program stops as if it had, but there's no visual feedback and commands like geben-find-file don't do anything or have any feedback. >Obviously yes, people have gotten geben to work. I wasn't asking if people have gotten it working, but since it hasn't been updated significantly in over a year and m1 is a completely different architecture with different access to dependencies, I do wonder if people have had trouble with it considering there's multiple unanswered issues open about Geben flat out not working. Looks abandoned. [https://github.com/ahungry/geben/issues/56](https://github.com/ahungry/geben/issues/56) https://github.com/ahungry/geben/issues/49

> The debugger doesn't kick in. The program stops as if it had, but there's no visual feedback Ah, sorry, I misinterpreted your initial description. Something is definitely wrong, then. I don't think I can help, though, other than to confirm that yes -- you would *normally* get a visual indication in Emacs of where the execution was stopped at, and allowing you to proceed with debugging. ---- > I wasn't asking if people have gotten it working That is definitely one of the things you asked. May I refer you to: > Has anyone gotten geben to work on emacs?
